So I made it home at 7 last night

And it’s crazy that my study abroad trip is finally over.

I ended up missing my celebration with my Dad’s side of the family because I was still flying home and my parents went on a skiing trip, so I drove myself home from the airport. I’ve just been relaxing at home, watching TV and doing my laundry.

I am le tired.

Yeah, that didn’t happen quite the way I expected

Seeing as Florence got a shitload of snow, my flight was cancelled (while I was sitting on the plane) and I ended up being at the airport for over 18 hours today. I should be sitting at home, happy in Portland, but instead the weather gods decided to own Florence with a bunch of snow.

The city is basically a mess, because no one knows how to drive in the snow and the streets are so narrow. The airport was ridiculous, but luckily I got a flight out of Rome on Sunday morning.

So, looking on the bright side, I am going to Rome tomorrow and I am going to see the Coliseum and the Vatican! Some how I ended up not going to Rome yet, so this is my opportunity!

I can’t believe it.

I am leaving Florence tonight / this morning. My cab comes in 50 minutes to take me to the airport, where I will fly to Germany and then to Seattle. And THEN I have one short plane ride to Portland, where I will be arriving at 2 p.m. on Friday afternoon.

I think I am going to write a very detailed post in a little bit about my thoughts coming home.

It’s insane to think that my study abroad trip is ending essentially right now. It has been the time of my life. I love the city of Florence and I am so thankful that I was able to experience something like this at such a perfect time in my life.

This is not ice cream. This is gelato. There is a very big difference.

Hey! I hope you are loving Florence, I went this past summer as a study abroad and I wish I could be back there all the time. I have a link to all of my Florence posts at the top of my tumblr. I lived in the Oltrarno section, a block from the Santo Spirito. I hope you have found Mama's Bakery by now, it is delicious! Take as many pictures as possible and do everything you want to do!

Thanks! Florence has been amazing.

I just went to the top of the Duomo today, it was awesome to look around the city and see all the places I’ve been.

People on my program have found some of the secret bakeries that open late at night and serve fresh croissants filled with chocolate cream. They are so amazing!

If you want to see some of the pictures I’ve taken, you can check on my Flickr. It also has all the pictures from the places I’ve been throughout Europe.

So my program had a sort of farewell dinner last night, where we all got dressed up classy and went to eat at this nice restaurant in Florence. A bunch of people gave good-bye speeches, including my friend Sparky here, who gave the best speech I’ve heard in a while.
He took Zach Galifiankis’ speech from The Hangover and applied it to the Zags and Florence, saying his “Zag pack” has increased in size and we spent the semester “searching for gelato and cocaine,” to which we all burst into laughter. He’s a boss.

Weird thing about Italy

Meatballs aren’t really a big thing here. I’m pretty sure thats an American stereotype for Italians.

Kinda disappointing…
